About Course

This CITB Leadership & Management course in Solving Problems and Making Decisions was developed by the construction specialists Acadame.

Delivered at our centre in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, virtually online or on-site; the purpose of this standard is to enable the delegate to develop the knowledge to be able to solve problems and make decisions as required by a practising or potential site supervisor:

  • how to describe a problem, its nature, scope and impact
  • gathering and interpreting information to solve a problem
  • evaluation of options to make a decision
  • planning, monitoring and reviewing the implementation and communication of decisions

Leadership and management are key skills for all construction sites and an area where the industry has identified a need for greater support and training.

Methods of Assessment

The method of assessment is a one-step journey:

The method of formal assessment considered appropriate for training delivered against this standard is by a combination of a question paper and a practical exercise. The question paper consists of 5 questions based on one question per assessment criteria point within learning outcomes 1-3 and 4.2 with a bank of 2 sets of question papers. Evidence from the practical exercise will be needed to answer the question paper.

Delegates must achieve 75% correct answers to pass.

Assessment of 4.1 is assessed by a scenario based practical exercise where the delegate must demonstrate competence of the assessment criteria.
