FLT (B1) Experienced (Counterbalance) course in Stoke and on-site

This Acadame delivered and ITSSAR accredited (or in house) Experienced Operator course is delivered over 2-3 days of instruction and is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 3 learners, providing the skills needed to operate the forklift truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection & recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.

This course is for existing operators with some previous experience of using a counterbalance forklift truck.

FLT is an abbreviation for Fork Lift Truck. FLT’s are the most common types of machines used for moving large palletised goods. If you drive an FLT then you will need the appropriate FLT licence. To obtain the relevant licence you will need to undergo formal training and testing. It is important that employers ensure that lift-truck operators are trained to the standards outlined in the L117 ACOP, whether using in-house programs or accredited.

This course is for existing operators with previous experience using a counterbalance truck but have not had formal ITSSAR Forklift Training and wish to achieve a nationally recognised operator qualification in the safe and correct use of counterbalance forklift up to a 5 tonne lifting capacity.


Assessment will be by multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course. Learners are also expected to actively participate during the course.

Once delegates have passed the theory test, they move onto the practical assessment where they will be tested on their ability to operate correctly and skillfully, but also without undue slowness, hesitancy or excessive speed.

Who is ITSSAR?

ITSSAR, The Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register is a non-profit making organisation which offers accreditation and monitoring of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

How can I study the B1 Counterbalance Experienced course?

We recognise that everyone is different, which is why we offer a choice of study routes. We can deliver the course nationally on your site or ours.

How long does the B1 Counterbalance Experienced course take to complete?

The course is held over 2-3 days dependant on how many learners there are, maximum of three.

Will I be issued with a certificate upon successful B1 Counterbalance Experienced completion?

Yes. On successful completion the learner will receive an accredited digital ITSSAR or in-house certificate. The certificate will be forwarded by at a later date. A proof of pass can be immediately provided if required though.
