Develop and prove you have the skills needed to be a knowledgeable, qualified construction site supervisor for residential development. This NVQ Level 4 qualification includes health and safety, planning, programming, working with others, maintaining good working relationships, customer service and quality control.
It could lead to employment as a supervisor or manager within a chosen specialist technical activity, such as building and civil engineering, highways and maintenance repair or residential development.

Suitability
You must be working on a construction site or in an office-based role so that we can assess you in your place of work. This course is suitable for trainee/assistant site managers, supervisors and anyone who wishes to progress to these positions.
Level
An NVQ Level 4 is equivalent to three A-Levels.
By their nature, NVQ qualifications are very different to A-Levels as they display your ability to specific work environments and job roles, whereas A-Levels display a more general academic achievement.
Duration
The duration is always lead by the candidate undertaking the qualification. NVQs usually take about 10 weeks.
Progression
On completion of this NVQ, you could consider taking a higher qualification such as the NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management (Construction) or the NVQ Level 6 in Construction Contracting Operations Management. Your assessor will be delighted to discuss these and any other options with you.
Funding
CITB provide grants for the successful completion of approved short qualifications that take less than one year and focus on core construction skills essential across the industry.
This card is available subject to the achievement of the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision.

The short answer is no, an SSSTS certificate is not enough to allow you to gain a gold managers CSCS card in the construction industry, or any CSCS card for that matter.
It is however with some sites, a mandatory requirement and a great way to increase your skills and knowledge when it comes to supervising health and safety on construction sites. An SSSTS or SSSTS-Refresher course is one of the best places to start.
