The law behind risk assessment in education training
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require every employer to assess the risks to employees and to anyone else affected by their work. In a school, that second group is mostly pupils and visitors, which is why school assessments look different from an office's.
Who the employer is varies by school type, and national and local guidance sits on top of the general duty, particularly for educational visits. Your own policy and your local authority or trust are the reference point for that.
