The law behind health and safety induction in education training
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require health and safety training on recruitment, which is what an induction is. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 places general duties on the employer and on employees. Section 3 covers people who are not employees: in a school, that means pupils and visitors.
Who the employer is depends on the school type: local authority, academy trust or governing body. Safeguarding sits under separate statutory guidance and is covered by its own course.
