NEBOSH, answered

Start with what the qualification is for. If it is for a health and safety job or to satisfy a client, employer or insurer, it is almost always the National General Certificate. If it is to do your own job better, an Award may be the right size. If your work is all construction or all fire, the sector certificates fit better. Ring us with the job advert or the client requirement and we will tell you in two minutes.

Level, length and grading. Awards are short, focused and graded Pass or Refer. Certificates are longer, broader and graded Pass, Credit or Distinction. Job adverts and competence requirements almost always mean a Certificate.

NEBOSH set it at roughly 80 to 130 guided learning hours, covering taught sessions, self study and preparation for both assessments. How long that takes in elapsed time depends on the route: an intensive block, or spread across weeks around a job.

Yes. We run live online as well as classroom and blended. The support does not change with the format: live online candidates get the same named Individual Learning Advisor and the same eLearning portal.

Yes. Gold is the top NEBOSH learning partner tier and it is awarded by NEBOSH against their own criteria for delivery, candidate support and learner experience.

Yes. Acadame is an ELCAS approved provider and NEBOSH qualifications are eligible, so Enhanced Learning Credits can go towards the course. Mention it when you enquire and we will do the paperwork with you.

No, they carry no expiry date. Continuing professional development is expected though, because legislation and good practice move and most employers and professional bodies treat ongoing competence as something you maintain rather than something you achieved once.

For some of them. The General Certificate needs it for the GNC2 practical risk assessment, the Fire Safety Certificate for FSC2, and the Health and Safety at Work Award for its workplace review. The Construction Certificate, the Martyn’s Law certificates, the Risk Assessment Award and Leadership Excellence do not. Tell us early if workplace access is a problem.

The National and International General Certificates support Affiliate membership of IOSH and Technical membership (Tech IOSH) with the relevant experience, plus Associate membership of IIRSM. The Construction Certificate supports AIIRSM. The National Diploma is the qualification behind Chartered membership of IOSH.

Our centres in Stoke-on-Trent, Derby, Manchester and Liverpool, live online from the UK, and onsite at employers’ own premises nationwide. Through our partner network we can open up local options where none of those suit.
