Accessibility statement
How accessible acadame.co.uk is, what we know is not right yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
Our commitment
We want everybody to be able to use this site
Acadame Ltd is committed to making acadame.co.uk usable by as many people as possible, whatever device they are on and whatever they use to browse. This statement covers the website at acadame.co.uk. It does not cover myPortal, our learner portal, or the Arlo booking system, both of which are third party platforms with their own accessibility statements.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. We are not fully there yet, and the sections below say plainly where we are short.
What we have built in
Things you can do on this site
There is an accessibility panel on every page, on the left hand edge, marked Accessibility. It has thirteen controls in it: contrast, colour saturation, bigger text, line height, letter and word spacing, text alignment, a dark theme, a dyslexia friendly typeface, highlighted links and buttons, hidden images, paused animation, a larger cursor and hover hints.
Your choices are remembered on that device. If you sign in and press Save, they follow you to every device you use. If your device asks for reduced motion, we switch animation off on your first visit without you having to do anything.
Beyond that panel, the site is built to work without a mouse and without images.
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the focus outline is always visible
- There is a skip to content link at the top of every page
- Headings are in order, so a screen reader can navigate by structure
- Text can be zoomed to 200 per cent without anything being lost or overlapping
- Images that carry meaning have alternative text; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers
- The site works at phone width without side to side scrolling
- Motion is reduced automatically if your device asks for that
Being straight with you
What we know is not accessible yet
We are part way through rebuilding this site. Pages built on the new templates meet the standard above. Older pages that we have not reached yet do not always, and the honest list is below.
We are working through these as part of the rebuild rather than as a separate project, and we expect the remaining pages to be done by March 2027.
- Some older pages have headings used for visual size rather than structure, which makes them harder to navigate with a screen reader
- A small number of older images are missing alternative text
- Some PDF course guides published before 2025 are not tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will send you the content in an accessible format
- Course dates come from Arlo, our booking system, and we do not control the accessibility of the booking pages themselves
- Video content hosted by third parties may not carry captions
If something blocks you
Tell us and we will fix it or work around it
Tell us what happened
Email hello@acadame.co.uk or call 0330 124 2165. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do and what got in the way. If you use assistive technology, telling us which one helps a lot.
We reply within five working days
A person reads it, not an auto-responder. If we can fix it quickly we will, and we will tell you when it is done.
We give you the content another way
If the fix is going to take longer, we will get you what you were after by another route: over the phone, by email, in large print or in a plain text format.
Booking by phone, always
You never have to use this website to book a course with us. Every course on here can be booked by phone or email on exactly the same terms.
Compliance and enforcement
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the site do not fully conform to the standard. The specific exceptions are listed above.
The site is tested by us using automated checks on every template plus manual keyboard and screen reader testing on each page type. It has not been audited by an independent third party. If we commission one we will say so here.
This statement was prepared on 14 September 2026 and reflects the site as it stands on that date. It is reviewed when the rebuild reaches a new group of pages, and in any case by March 2027.
If you contact us with a complaint about accessibility and you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service, who advise on rights under the Equality Act 2010.
No. myPortal and the Arlo booking pages are third party platforms. If you hit a problem on either, tell us anyway. We will raise it with the supplier and in the meantime deal with you directly.
