CITB Leadership and Management Practice in Construction
The whole picture, and the way in to the ILM Level 3 qualification. A CITB Leadership and Management short course for supervisors and managers, assessed on the day with no assignment to write up.
About this course
CITB Leadership and Management Practice in Construction is one of twelve CITB Leadership and Management standards, written for construction by the industry training board rather than adapted from a generic management course.
It is the broad standard: what a supervisor is responsible for, the difference between leading and managing, and where quality and health and safety sit in both.
The standard runs to 14 hours. There is no assignment and no portfolio, and the certificate does not expire, so nobody sits it twice.
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of a site supervisor or team leader
- Explain the differences between leadership and management and the relationship between the two
- Describe the role of quality management in site management
- Explain the importance of health and safety in site management
How completing this course helps you
- Know what a site supervisor is actually responsible for, and what they are not
- Tell leading from managing, and use both rather than defaulting to one
- Hold quality on the job rather than inspecting it in at the end
- Put health and safety where it belongs, in how the work is run
Who should attend?
Site based and office based supervisors and managers, anyone who could be managing a team in future, and employees not yet ready for a supervisory role who would benefit from the development.
