About Course

The CITB SSSTS course (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) is a widely recognised course for people who are considering, or already have, site supervisory responsibilities in construction. It is designed to help supervisors understand their role in managing health, safety, welfare and environmental issues on site, while improving confidence in planning work, monitoring standards, briefing teams and addressing unsafe behaviour. CITB states the course is specifically for those considering or already holding supervisory responsibilities, and that certification is valid for five years.

This SSSTS course is ideal for site supervisors, team leaders, chargehands and forepersons who need a stronger understanding of their legal duties and how to supervise work safely on construction projects. Candidates build knowledge around health and safety law, risk assessments, method statements, site inductions, toolbox talks, monitoring activities and intervening when poor practice is identified. These are all core themes set out within the CITB SSSTS framework.

At Acadame, we deliver CITB SSSTS training in Stoke, Derby, Manchester, and Liverpool. We can also deliver onsite nationwide for employers who want supervisor training at their premises, and through our managed service network we can often help open up local course options across the UK for organisations with teams in other regions.

For many candidates, the SSSTS course is also an important step in their wider progression in construction. It supports those moving from operative level into supervision, helps employers strengthen site standards, and gives supervisors the knowledge they need to promote safer, more efficient and more compliant projects.

Need A Gold Supervisor Card?

If you are already working at supervisor level and need to progress your career, a Level 4 Site Supervision NVQ could help you work towards the CSCS Gold Supervisor Card.

The CITB SSSTS course is designed for people who are considering or already carrying out supervisory responsibilities on construction sites. It gives site supervisors a stronger understanding of how to manage health and safety in line with current legal responsibilities and their specific role. Candidates develop a clearer sense of accountability for the health, safety and welfare of the workforce, while recognising that a safe site is also more organised, efficient and productive. CITB says the course covers legal responsibilities, supervisory control, risk assessments, method statements, inductions, toolbox talks, monitoring and intervention when bad practice is found.

This course is ideal for site supervisors, forepersons, team leaders and chargehands who need to supervise work safely and understand their responsibilities on site.
