CITB Understanding Commercial Awareness
Why the commercial team wants what it wants, and what it costs when they do not get it. A CITB Leadership and Management short course for supervisors and managers, assessed on the day with no assignment to write up.
About this course
CITB Understanding Commercial Awareness is one of twelve CITB Leadership and Management standards, written for construction by the industry training board rather than adapted from a generic management course.
It is about cost, waste, records, stakeholders and the client: why the commercial side asks what it asks, and what a supervisor controls.
The standard runs to 14 hours. There is no assignment and no portfolio, and the certificate does not expire, so nobody sits it twice.
- Explain the role of the supervisor in managing and controlling costs
- Describe the role of the supervisor in minimising waste in an organisation
- Explain how keeping records contributes to making an organisation successful
- Explain the importance of stakeholder relationships in making an organisation successful
- Explain the role of the supervisor in meeting client requirements
How completing this course helps you
- See where a supervisor actually controls cost, and where they do not
- Cut waste on your section and know what it is worth
- Keep records that stand up when the commercial team or the client asks
- Handle stakeholders and client requirements without over promising
Who should attend?
Site based and office based supervisors and managers, anyone who could be managing a team in future, and employees not yet ready for a supervisory role who would benefit from the development.
