QNUK First Aid at Work Requalification in Derby
Two days at our Derby centre to renew a First Aid at Work certificate. Book it before the certificate expires: once it lapses, the short route closes.
About this course
The requalification covers the same outcomes as the three day course in two days, because you are refreshing rather than starting from scratch.
Your existing certificate has to be in date on the day of the course. That single condition is why we tell Derby employers to diary the renewal a couple of months ahead rather than the week the certificate runs out.
It is heavily practical, because technique fades over three years even when the knowledge does not.
The centre is Pride Park, Pride Park, Derby DE24. Pride Park is immediately off the A52 and close to the A6 and the A50, and Derby station is walkable from the centre.
We draw candidates from Burton upon Trent, Nottingham, Loughborough, Ashbourne, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Belper and the wider Derbyshire and east Midlands area. If a date at Derby does not suit, the same course runs at our other centres and we can deliver it at your own premises anywhere in the UK.
- The role and responsibilities of a first aider, consent, and infection control, revisited
- Assessing an incident: the scene survey, the primary survey, and summoning assistance
- Adult CPR on a manikin, with feedback on depth, rate and recoil
- The recovery position, monitoring, and managing a seizure
- Choking, external bleeding and shock
- The secondary survey, and injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including slings

How completing this course helps you
- A renewed QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work, valid for a further three years
- Continuity of first aid cover without anybody dropping off the list
- Two days out rather than three
- Practical skills back to the standard they were at on day one of the last certificate
Who should attend?
Qualified workplace first aiders across Derby and the east Midlands whose First Aid at Work certificate is in date and due for renewal.
Entry requirements. You must hold a First Aid at Work certificate that has not yet expired. If yours has run out, the full three day First Aid at Work course is the route back. Check the date on the certificate before you book rather than on the morning.

At Derby
What to expect on the day
The course is the same wherever you sit it. What changes is the room, the journey and the people in it, and those matter more than providers usually admit.
Our Derby centre is Pride Park, Pride Park, Derby DE24. Pride Park is immediately off the A52 and close to the A6 and the A50, and Derby station is walkable from the centre. Joining instructions go out ahead of the course with timings, what to bring and where to go when you arrive.
If you are booking for a group and travel is the problem, we deliver this course at employers’ own premises anywhere in the country. For six or more people that is usually cheaper per head and nobody loses a day on the road.
Before the day
Joining instructions with timings, the address and what to bring. Tell us at booking if anybody needs support with reading, writing or access and we will sort it quietly.
On the day
Arrive a few minutes early. Bring photographic identification, which most awarding bodies require before they will certificate you.
Afterwards
We tell you the outcome and handle the registration and certification with the awarding body. If anything needs resitting we will get it booked.

First Aid at Work Requalification FAQs
The requalification route closes and you need the full three day course. Check the date before booking rather than on the morning.
Three years. HSE guidance also recommends an annual refresher in between, which is a separate half day and a regulated qualification in its own right.
There is no legal number. It falls out of your own first aid needs assessment: hazards, headcount, shift patterns, lone workers, site layout and distance from help. Most employers train above the minimum so that holidays do not leave them uncovered.
Pride Park, Pride Park, Derby DE24. Pride Park is immediately off the A52 and close to the A6 and the A50, and Derby station is walkable from the centre. Full joining instructions with timings go out before the course.
The same course runs at our other centres in Stoke-on-Trent, Derby, Manchester and Liverpool, and we deliver it at employers’ own premises anywhere in the UK. Tell us roughly when you need it and we will find something or put a date on.
Yes, anywhere in the country. For six or more people it normally works out cheaper per head than sending everybody to a centre, and we can build the day around your shift patterns.
