The NPORS N204 Forward Tipping Dumper qualification is designed to provide operators with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for the safe and efficient operation of forward tipping dumpers. This comprehensive course covers key areas such as understanding industry hazards, adhering to health and safety legislation, conducting pre-operational checks, and mastering machine controls and functions. Delegates will also learn about environmental considerations, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and procedures for machine transportation and storage. Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS operator card, valid for up to five years, demonstrating their competence and commitment to maintaining high safety standards in dumper operations.

Gain a foundational understanding of the construction industry, recognising the inherent dangers and your responsibilities as a forward tipping dumper operator.
Develop a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific machine used, enabling you to locate and identify major components and key controls, and explain their functions.
Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements, ensuring the machine’s safety and operational integrity before use.
Identify and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for forward tipping dumper use, such as safety boots, ear defenders, eye protection, and hard hats.
Prepare the forward tipping dumper for use and operate it safely and efficiently, including navigating various terrains, managing loads, and understanding environmental considerations.
Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area, attach and set trailers ready for operation, and consider environmental factors during operation.
Understand procedures for the storage and transport of implements and attachments, ensuring equipment is secured and transported safely.
Carry out all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures, including proper storage of the machine and reporting any issues encountered during operation.
The method of assessment is a three-step journey:
A written assessment covering regulations, machine controls, and operational safety.
Candidates will demonstrate the safe operation of the tool, including pre-operational checks and performing tasks.
Candidates will showcase proper shutdown techniques to ensure safety and compliance.
