Anti-Bribery Awareness eLearning
Online anti-bribery training built around the Bribery Act 2010: the four offences, the corporate offence your business can commit, and the adequate procedures that are its only defence.
Who it is for
Who this anti-bribery course is for
The Bribery Act created an offence a commercial organisation can commit simply by failing to prevent bribery by someone associated with it. Training is one of the procedures that make the defence available, and it has to reach the people who deal with customers, suppliers and agents.
- Sales, procurement and commercial teams
- Anyone who gives or receives hospitality or gifts at work
- Staff working with agents, intermediaries or overseas partners
- Finance and accounts teams
- Directors and senior managers
- All staff, as part of induction or annual refresher training

Your legal duty
The law behind anti-bribery training
The Bribery Act 2010 creates four offences: bribing another person, being bribed, bribing a foreign public official, and: for commercial organisations, failing to prevent bribery by an associated person. That last one is a strict liability offence.
The only defence to the corporate offence is that the organisation had adequate procedures in place to prevent bribery. Government guidance sets out six principles for those procedures, and communication and training is one of them, which is why documented staff training matters commercially as well as ethically.
- Bribery Act 2010 - the four offences
- The corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery
- Adequate procedures as the statutory defence
- Communication and training as one of the six guidance principles
Practicalities
How the course works
Would you rather have a tutor?
Where your own procedures, equipment and reporting lines need to be in the training, we can build that version for you.
For employers
Anti-Bribery training for a team
Because adequate procedures is a whole-organisation defence, the training record needs to cover the whole organisation, not only the sales team.
- One invoice instead of a card payment per person
- Licences allocated as people join, so induction is covered
- Completion and expiry reporting for your records
- Renewal reminders before certificates lapse
- Bespoke versions built around your own procedures
Anti-Bribery Awareness eLearning: common questions
Not by name. But the only defence to the corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery is having adequate procedures. Communication and training is one of the principles government guidance sets out for those procedures.
No. Reasonable and proportionate hospitality is legitimate. The course explains where the line sits and why registers and thresholds help you stay on the right side of it.
A small payment to an official to speed up a routine action they are already obliged to perform. They are bribery under the Bribery Act, even where local practice tolerates them.
It has significant extra-territorial reach, including for organisations that carry on business in the UK. The course covers this at awareness level.
About 30 to 45 minutes, with no time limit: start it, pause it, and come back whenever suits. The certificate is issued as soon as you pass the end assessment.
Yes. It runs in a browser on any modern phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install.
Yes. Open a business account and we invoice you for the licences, which you allocate as people need them, with completion reporting included.
