Your legal duty
The law behind modern slavery training
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 consolidated slavery and human trafficking offences and introduced a transparency requirement: certain commercial organisations must publish an annual statement setting out the steps taken to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in their business or supply chains.
There is no statutory requirement to train every employee. In practice, training is how organisations make the statement truthful. A commitment to identify exploitation is empty if nobody has been shown what it looks like.
- Modern Slavery Act 2015
- Transparency in supply chains, the annual statement duty for qualifying organisations
- No general statutory duty to train, but training underpins a credible statement

How the course works

Where your own procedures, equipment and reporting lines need to be in the training, we can build that version for you.
For employers
Modern Slavery training for a team
Modern slavery training is most useful where people meet workers: site, HR, procurement and facilities. Training them together makes the reporting route consistent.
- One invoice instead of a card payment per person
- Licences allocated as people join, so induction is covered
- Completion and expiry reporting for your records
- Renewal reminders before certificates lapse
- Bespoke versions built around your own procedures
Modern Slavery eLearning: common questions
There is no statutory duty to train every employee. The Act's transparency requirement means qualifying organisations must publish what steps they take, and training is one of the steps that makes such a statement credible.
Certain commercial organisations above a turnover threshold. The course explains the requirement at awareness level; whether your organisation qualifies is a question for your legal adviser.
Report it through your organisation's route, or to the police. The course is explicit that you should not confront a suspected exploiter or attempt to rescue anyone yourself.
Debt bondage, document retention, threats to family, and fear of authorities are all common. The course covers why victims rarely self-identify, which is why the indicators matter.
About 30 to 45 minutes, with no time limit. Start it, pause it, and come back whenever suits. The certificate is issued as soon as you pass the end assessment.
