CITB SSSTS Refresher in Stoke-on-Trent
One day at our Stoke-on-Trent centre to renew an SSSTS certificate for another five years. It has to be done while the existing certificate is still in date.
About this course
The SSSTS Refresher is one day rather than two, and that is the reason to keep an eye on the expiry date. Let the certificate lapse and the refresher route closes: you are back on the full two day SSSTS.
The day revisits the supervisor’s responsibilities, risk assessment and method statements, toolbox talks, monitoring and the legislation that has moved since you last sat it. It is assessed, and the renewed certificate runs five years.
North Staffordshire contractors book it regularly, usually a few supervisors at a time so the expiry dates stay aligned for next time.
The centre is Trent House, 234 Victoria Road, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 2LW. Fenton sits just off the A50 and the A500, a few minutes from junction 15 of the M6, and Stoke-on-Trent station is a short taxi ride away.
We draw candidates from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stafford, Crewe, Congleton, Leek, Cheadle, Uttoxeter, Market Drayton and the wider Staffordshire and south Cheshire area. If a date at Stoke-on-Trent does not suit, the same course runs at our other centres and we can deliver it at your own premises anywhere in the UK.

Site supervisors, gangers and foremen across Staffordshire and south Cheshire holding an SSSTS certificate that is approaching its five year expiry.
Entry requirements. Delegates must have previously completed the two day SSSTS course. Sit the refresher before your certificate expires, otherwise the full course must be taken again.

If you are booking for a group and travel is the problem, we deliver this course at employers’ own premises anywhere in the country. For six or more people that is usually cheaper per head and nobody loses a day on the road.
Before the day
Joining instructions with timings, the address and what to bring. Tell us at booking if anybody needs support with reading, writing or access and we will sort it quietly.
On the day
Arrive a few minutes early. Bring photographic identification, which most awarding bodies require before they will certificate you.
Afterwards
We tell you the outcome and handle the registration and certification with the awarding body. If anything needs resitting we will get it booked.
Method of assessment
How SSSTS Refresher is assessed
There is an assessment. CITB set it for every Site Safety Plus course and it is taken during or at the end of the course.
Take part in full
CITB require full attendance across the 1 day before the assessment can be taken.
Assessment
CITB standard GET2769. An exam paper at the end of the course, compulsory, 25 questions selected by CITB covering all aspects of the course. The pass mark is 80 per cent.
Certificate
A CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for five years. Renew before it expires or the full course has to be taken again. CITB grant Grant Tier 2 Refresher, 7.5 learning hours, standard GET2769.

SSSTS Refresher FAQs
The refresher route is closed and you need the full two day SSSTS again. Book the refresher a month or two before the expiry date rather than after it.
For CITB registered employers up to date with their Levy Returns, usually yes, and we submit the claim for you. Rates change, so we will give you the current position rather than publishing a figure.
Yes. Employers with several supervisors coming up for renewal usually run them together, which is cheaper per head and keeps the certificates in step.
