About Course

The CAT & GENNY – Cable Avoidance Course, delivered by Acadame’s industry experts across the UK, equips operatives and supervisors with the essential knowledge to carry out cable avoidance operations and locate underground services safely and efficiently.

Detecting underground utilities such as electricity and gas during excavation is crucial not only for the safety of workers but also to prevent costly delays and disruptions in construction and civil engineering projects.

It is essential that anyone working on roadworks, whether as an operative or a supervisor, is fully trained in the use of a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) alongside a signal generator (Genny). These devices work together to detect signals emitted from hidden pipes and cables, ensuring excavation work is conducted safely and effectively.

How Completing This Course Will Help You:

The CAT & Genny Operator Course (Essentials) is designed for individuals who operate, supervise, or manage the use of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators in the workplace to minimise the risks associated with underground services.

There are no formal prerequisites for this course, though prior knowledge of underground services, utility plans, and cable avoidance tools can be beneficial.
