About this course

SHEA Power is the safety passport for operational sites in the power sector. One day, eight modules, and a registration accepted across generation, transmission and distribution rather than a different induction at every client.

Alongside the general health, safety and environmental awareness it covers the hazards particular to the power industry, across generation, transmission and distribution.

The registration lasts three years. EUSR allow a half day renewal, but only while the registration is still live, so the renewal date is worth diarising.

We deliver it in a classroom, live online, and at your own premises for a group.

  • Your responsibilities in the workplace, and your employer's
  • The effect the work has on the environment and how to limit it
  • Identifying risk on an operational site rather than walking past it
  • The hazards that come up most, and the controls that go with them
  • Occupational health: the things that damage people slowly
  • What to do when something goes wrong, and who needs to know
  • Highway working and excavations
  • The hazards specific to generation, transmission and distribution

How completing this course helps you

  • An EUSR SHEA Power registration, recorded against you on the EUSR register
  • Valid for three years from the date you pass
  • The awareness a client site expects before it lets you start work
  • One scheme accepted across the sector rather than a different induction at every site

Who should attend?

Anybody working on operational power sector sites: contractors, subcontractors and maintenance crews working in generation, transmission or distribution.

Entry requirements. None set by EUSR. The course is taught and assessed in English, so you need a reasonable standard of spoken and written English.

Cards and registration

What the registration gets you, and what it does not

From October 2026 a SHEA registration no longer carries a CSCS card with it automatically. You apply separately for the EUSR card that fits your role, and a 2026 registration sits on an EUSR Utilities card rather than the CSCS Green Labourer card the older 2023 and 2024 registrations came with. If somebody has told you the course gets you a green card, that is why they are out of date.

The registration itself is what a client site checks. It sits on the EUSR register under your name, so a site can verify it rather than take a laminated card at face value.

Renewal is worth diarising. Letting it lapse means starting again rather than topping up.

How SHEA Power is assessed

Registration

A pass is recorded on the EUSR register and lasts three years.

SHEA Power FAQs

No. SHEA Core is the shared general content that sits under the SHEA schemes. SHEA Power is the full one day scheme for the power sector, with the power specific hazards on top. If a client has asked for SHEA Power, Core on its own will not satisfy them.

EUSR allow a half day renewal, but only for somebody whose registration has not expired. Once it lapses you do the full day again.

It lasts three years from the date you pass, and it is recorded on the EUSR register under your name.

A short multiple choice assessment at the end of each module, set by EUSR. There is no single exam at the end of the day.

Yes, at your own premises anywhere in the UK, which for a group is both cheaper and less disruptive than sending people out. Tell us how many and where and we will come back the same working day.

Yes. EUSR allow remote delivery for this scheme, so we run it live online as well as in a classroom. It is the same assessment either way.
