Asbestos awareness training through the UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Operative course provides workers and supervisors with essential knowledge to prevent accidental disturbance of asbestos during routine tasks that may affect a building’s structure or other materials containing asbestos.
Under Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, employers must ensure that all employees who may be exposed to asbestos, as well as those responsible for supervising them, receive appropriate information, instruction, and training.
Individuals undertaking non-licensed work involving asbestos-containing materials, as outlined in Regulation 3(2) of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, must adhere to relevant safety requirements.
This typically applies to a range of trade professionals, including but not limited to demolition and construction workers, maintenance personnel, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters, decorators, joiners, shop fitters, plasterers, and roofers. Others who may encounter asbestos in their work include heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication technicians, computer installers, alarm system fitters, architects, building surveyors, and similar professionals responsible for tasks that could disturb asbestos-containing materials. This is where the UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Operative course is ideal.
The method of assessment is a two-step journey:
Attainment of the learning outcome for the UKATA Cat B Non-Licensed course will assessed by a multiple choice examination consisting of 30 questions under exam conditions.
The UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Operative course is specialist training designed for workers who may need to safely carry out non-licensed tasks involving asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). The training equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to comply with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
This course is essential for trade professionals such as builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers, decorators, maintenance staff, and others who may disturb asbestos during their work. Supervisors overseeing such work are also required to complete UKATA Asbestos Non-Licensed Operative training.
The training typically takes 6 hours to complete. It combines classroom-based learning with a practical assessment to ensure participants can apply safe working methods when dealing with asbestos-containing materials.
On successful completion, participants will receive a UKATA certificate, valid for 12 months. This certification demonstrates compliance with legislation and proves competence to employers and site managers.
