About this course
Leading a Team Safely is the ECITB one day workshop for team leaders, chargehands and supervisors in engineering construction. It sits on top of the CCNSG Safety Passport rather than replacing it: the passport says you can look after yourself on site, this says you can look after a team.
The day is about the gap most new supervisors fall into. Knowing the rules is not the same as getting a crew to work to them when the job is behind, the weather is against you and somebody wants a shortcut. The course spends its time on briefing, on challenging what you see, and on the awkward conversation rather than on reciting legislation.
We run it in a classroom at our centres and at your own premises for a group anywhere in the UK. It is arranged to order rather than on a fixed timetable, so tell us when suits and we will build it around your shift pattern.

Who should attend?
For team leaders, chargehands, supervisors and anybody about to take charge of a crew on an engineering construction site. It is equally useful for an experienced hand who has been supervising for years without ever being trained to.
Entry requirements. None set by the ECITB, although the day assumes you already work in engineering construction and understand what a site looks like. Most people who take it already hold a CCNSG Safety Passport.

Where it sits
Passport, then team, then the wider safety qualifications
The CCNSG Safety Passport is the card that gets an individual through the gate. Leading a Team Safely is what you add when that individual starts being answerable for a crew. It does not replace the passport and a site will still want to see one.
If the role is growing past supervision into managing an area, IOSH Managing Safely is the three day course written for that, and it is not tied to one sector card scheme.
If the job is becoming health and safety rather than including it, that is a NEBOSH qualification rather than a one day workshop, and we will say so rather than sell you a day.
Hold the passport first
Almost everybody on this course already carries a CCNSG card. It is not a formal entry requirement, but the day assumes that grounding.

It is a workshop rather than an exam course, so the day is built on discussion and on scenarios from the sector.
One day in the room
Face to face, worked through scenarios rather than slides, with the group own sites doing most of the examples.
Taking part
The ECITB expect full attendance and participation across the day. This is the part that decides whether somebody takes anything away from it.
Certificate
An ECITB Leading a Team Safely certificate on completion.
