About this training
Short courses for the people who run the work
Leadership and management is where the industry itself said it needed help, so CITB built a set of standards for it and Acadame delivers them. The courses give frontline supervisors and managers the skills and the confidence to lead and organise a team, handle a difficult situation and make a decision rather than pass it up.
They sit alongside ILM’s Level 3 Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction and Built Environment Sector qualification, so somebody can take one course to fix one gap, or work through to a full qualification.
Nothing here runs longer than two days and none of it carries an assignment, which is the point: a supervisor is off site for half a day or a day, not a term.

Funding
If you pay the levy, there is grant on all twelve
Short course grant
CITB pay a grant on approved short courses lasting anything from three hours to twenty nine days. These are half a day to two days.
One code per course
Each of the twelve has its own CITB grant code and tier, listed against it above. Quote the code on the claim.
You make the claim
The claim is made by the levy registered employer through their own CITB account. We put the code on your certificate and your invoice so you have what it asks for.
Common questions about CITB Leadership & Management
CITB set the assessment for each standard. Most are a question paper of between five and twenty one questions at 75 per cent, taken at the end of the course. Leadership and Management Practice needs 80 per cent. Commercial Awareness and Solving Problems add a practical exercise, and Developing Yourself as a Team Leader adds a scenario exercise and a professional discussion.
No. There is no mandatory renewal and no recommended refresher on these standards, and the certificate does not expire.
At your workplace, at one of our centres, or live online as a virtual tutor led class. The certificate is the same whichever you choose.
CITB cap it at twenty candidates per trainer, so a whole team can usually go through together.
No. Anyone can book. The CITB grant is only claimable by levy registered employers, but the course is open to everybody.
