CITB Short Qualification Grants
CITB pay grant on achievement of approved qualifications that take less than a year, which covers a great many construction NVQs. It is the grant behind the move from Industry Accreditation cards to real qualifications.

CITB registered employer
The employer has to be registered with the Construction Industry Training Board.
Up to date with Levy Returns
Compliance with Levy Returns is a condition of the Grants Scheme and an outstanding return holds up an otherwise valid claim.
The qualification is approved
Grant applies to approved qualifications taking under a year, which covers most of the construction NVQs we deliver, including supervision and management.
The candidate achieves
Grant follows achievement. A portfolio that stalls halfway attracts nothing, which is an argument for assessment support rather than leaving people to it.
Why it exists
The move from Industry Accreditation to qualifications
CSCS has been phasing out Industry Accreditation cards, the grandfather rights route, in favour of recognised qualifications such as construction NVQs. That leaves a lot of experienced people needing a qualification for work they have been doing competently for twenty years.
Short qualification grant exists to take the sting out of that. For somebody already doing the job, an NVQ is assessed in their own workplace on their own work rather than taught from scratch, so it recognises competence rather than creating it.

It varies by qualification and by level, and CITB change the rates. We will give you the current figure for the qualification you are actually doing rather than publishing a table that will be wrong within a year.

Sometimes, depending on what else is in play and what CITB currently allow. It is worth asking rather than assuming, because the combinations change and we would rather you did not pay for something you could have claimed.
We do, as an approved CITB provider, once the candidate has achieved. Make sure CITB hold your current bank details, because grant is paid by bank transfer.
