Your legal duty
The law behind COSHH training
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 require employers to prevent or adequately control exposure to substances hazardous to health. Where exposure cannot be prevented, the employer must assess the risk, put control measures in place, maintain them, and ensure they are used properly.
Training is written into that. Employees who may be exposed have to be given suitable information, instruction and training: including the risks, the precautions, and the results of any monitoring. This course covers the awareness element; the substance-specific detail belongs in your own assessment.

COSHH Awareness eLearning: common questions
Where employees are or may be exposed to substances hazardous to health, yes. COSHH requires the employer to provide suitable and sufficient information, instruction and training. This course covers the general awareness part of that duty.
No. The assessment is specific to your substances, quantities and processes and only you can produce it. The course teaches staff to find it, understand it and follow the controls it sets.
No. Asbestos, lead and radioactive substances each have their own regulations. The course explains where the boundary sits so nobody assumes COSHH covers everything.
Yes. Dusts such as silica and wood dust are substances hazardous to health, and they cause some of the most serious long-term occupational disease in the UK.
