The law behind asbestos awareness in education training
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 require employers to prevent exposure so far as is reasonably practicable and to ensure that anyone liable to disturb asbestos in the course of their work receives adequate information, instruction and training.
The duty to manage asbestos applies to those responsible for maintenance of non-domestic premises, which includes schools. That is where the asbestos register comes from, and checking it before fixing anything to a wall is the single most practical control in a school.
