The Temporary Red card is exclusively suitable for individuals engaged in a construction-related qualification or training program that necessitates the fulfilment of a minimum 30-day work placement, examples being T-Levels or Trainee Skills Development Programs.
The Red Industry Placement card holds a validity period of three years and is not subject to renewal.

Step 1
To be eligible for this card, applicants must:
• Be aged 16 or above
• Be registered onto a qualification or training programme requiring a minimum of 30 days’ work placement
• Have successfully passed the relevant Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last two years. For CSCS, SKILLcard and JIB-PMES, this will be the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operative test. For ECS, it will be the ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.

If you are a trainee registered to complete a construction-related vocational or academic qualification* which is acceptable for a skilled CSCS card upon completion, you should apply for the Trainee card instead.

Step 2
All applicants must pass the CITB health, safety and environment test (HSE) for operatives or any other test relevant to your role. You can select this option when booking online or let the team know if you're booking over the phone.
Step 3
The quickest and most convenient way to apply for your Red Industry Placement Card CSCS Card is via the CSCS online application service.
Applicants must provide proof of registration onto their T Level, Traineeship, or other programme.
Applicants must complete the Enrolment Evidence Form and upload it during the application process.
The Operatives test ensures workers have a minimum level of health, safety and environmental awareness before going on site. This test covers the following five core knowledge areas:
The pass mark for the Operatives test is 90%. To pass, you need to answer at least 45 out of 50 questions correctly
The official CITB GT100 publication contains all of the content that is covered within the test in the form of questions and answers so that you can fully prepare for your test. It is also available as a digital download. There is a smartphone app which provides test simulations so you can practise answering knowledge questions against the clock and highlight the areas where further preparation is needed. The Operatives app is available in the 14 voiceover languages offered.
