About Course

The IOSH Working Safely course develops greater productivity, from fewer hours lost due to sickness and accidents – Improved company-wide safety awareness culture and appreciation of safety measures, active staff involvement to improve the workplace and an enhanced reputation within the supply chain.

IOSH Working Safely is a completely different approach to safety and health training. It’s a high-impact programme designed to be fun and get people fully involved. The first-class, jargon-free content is based on what people need to know in practice, and not off-putting legal language.

  • What an organisation can do to manage and improve safety and health in the workplace
  • Workers’ responsibilities for improving safety and health in the workplace
  • How attitude and behaviour can affect safety and health in the workplace
  • What a ‘safe system of work’ is
  • What a ‘permit to work’ is
  • How safety signs can play an important part in communicating safety and health information
  • Using personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • The safety and health of other people who may come on site, including contractors, visitors and members of the public
  • The role of safety committees and worker representatives in safety and health
  • Types of workplace inspections

Methods of Assessment

The method of assessment is a two-step journey:

Knowledge and comprehension: This consists of 20 questions in a variety of formats. Each paper has a maximum of 33 marks.
This consists of four hazard-spotting questions plus four questions about harm caused by hazards and the best ways to control it. Each paper has a maximum of 16 marks.
