Nebosh General

Studied for me Nebosh General in Feb 26 with Alan Starr. Very pleased with all the support from both Alan and Matt, very happy to have passed. I feel without the support this enabled me to get my Nebosh. The course was full of examples and scenarios, which gave a better insight of expectations and real life situations. Who should do this course

This course is for employees who have the responsibility for fire conduct.

Assessment

How someone is measured

The tutor splits the course into two components. You will first attend a classroom theory component.

The practical element includes a demonstration of the different types of extinguishers as well as fire safety signs around the building.

Delegates will also have to complete a short written assessment at the end of the course.

Duration

How long the course takes

The classroom course is held over half a day. Typically 3-4 hours.

Syllabus

Introduction to Fire Marshal Training

Why is fire safety important, fire safety law, how is the law enforced, employer duties, fire warden responsibilities, how many fire wardens do businesses need, and how to prepare for your role.

Understanding Fire

The fire triangle, classes of fire, dangerous substances, hazard labelling and packaging, and safety data sheets.

Fire Risk Assessment

What is a risk assessment, key definitions.

Fire Safety Arrangements

Fire prevention measures, duties of manufacturers and suppliers of machines and equipment, fire detection and warning systems, duties of manufacturers, importers, and distributors of electrical equipment, fire extinguishers, and fire blankets.

Evacuation Routes and Signs

Requirements of evacuation routes, emergency lighting, and fire signs.

Emergency Plans, Evacuation Procedures, and Fire Drills

Fire emergency plans, general evacuation procedures, evacuation procedures for vulnerable people, fire warden duties during evacuations, and fire drills.

Classification and use of Fire Extinguishers

Fires can be placed into different classes depending on what material is burning. 

Will I be issued with a certificate upon successful Fire Marshal (Warden) completion?

Yes. On successful completion the learner will receive a digital Acadame certificate. The certificate will be forwarded at a later date. A proof of pass can be immediately provided if required though.

How long is the Fire Marshal (Warden) certificate valid for?

Certification for this course is valid for 3 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date.
