About Course

The NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work is a practical 1 day risk assessment course designed for people who carry out, contribute to, or review workplace risk assessments as part of their role. Developed by NEBOSH in collaboration with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), this respected qualification gives candidates a clear, structured introduction to the process of managing health and safety risks in the workplace.

This course is ideal for managers, supervisors, team leaders, health and safety representatives, facilities personnel, HR professionals, and anyone who needs to understand how to complete a suitable and sufficient risk assessment. It is particularly useful for organisations wanting to improve the quality of their risk assessments and ensure risk controls are proportionate, practical, and aligned with current HSE guidance.

During the course, candidates learn why risk assessments matter, when they are required, how to identify hazards, how to assess risk, and how to select sensible control measures using the hierarchy of control. The programme also explores the importance of worker consultation, common mistakes made in risk assessments, and how to review assessments so they remain relevant and effective.

A key strength of this qualification is its practical focus. Candidates work through realistic workplace scenarios and build confidence in applying risk assessment principles in real working environments. Special risk situations are also covered, including young persons, lone working, and dynamic risk assessment, helping candidates understand when additional considerations are needed.

Acadame delivers this NEBOSH risk assessment course at our training centres in Stoke, Derby, Manchester, and Liverpool, with options for onsite delivery nationwide.
