Description
Because of the wide range of construction-related maintenance work it is not expected that all candidates will carry out the same activities; the qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the units available, there are 8 pathways to cover a range of maintenance tasks that come under the following broad headings: carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, plumbing, external drainage, tiling, plastering, roofing and trowel operations.
Qualification Breakdown
Candidates must complete all mandatory units, a minimum of 8 credits from optional group B and a minimum of 54 credits from group C1-C8.
Mandatory Units
- Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace

A minimum of 8 credits must be achieved:
- Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace (8)
- Establishing Work Area Protection and Safety in the Workplace (10)
- Providing and Monitoring Construction-Related Customer Service in the Workplace (8)
- Clearing the Site and Handing Over on Completion in the Workplace (12)

Group C1 – Maintenance Carpentry and Joinery (if chosen a minimum of 26 credits must be achieved)
