Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a guided, trenchless method for installing underground pipes, conduits, and cables by drilling a horizontal bore from a launch pit to a reception pit. This low-impact technique uses a surface-launched drill rig to create a pilot hole, which is then enlarged through a process called reaming before the desired product is pulled back into the completed bore. HDD is particularly valuable for crossing obstacles like rivers, roads, or sensitive environments, and it offers environmental and cost advantages over traditional open-cut trenching
