About the NPORS N004 Lorry Mounted Lift Truck

The NPORS N004 Lorry Mounted Lift Truck course is designed to provide operators with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely and efficiently operate lorry-mounted lift trucks across various work environments. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on training, participants will learn to conduct pre-operational checks, understand machine components and controls, and perform safe manoeuvring and load handling tasks. The course also covers relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, and LOLER regulations. Upon successful completion, candidates will be equipped to operate lorry-mounted lift trucks competently and in compliance with industry standards.

Course Content
  • Understand the industry, associated hazards, and operator responsibilities.
  • Gain knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook, relevant regulations, and legislation.
  • Identify major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Locate and understand all operating controls and their functions.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks in line with manufacturer and legislative requirements.
  • Safely mount and dismount the machine.
  • Start and stop the engine and safely move the machine off and stop it safely.
  • Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely, both laden and unladen, in open and confined areas.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
Methods of Assessment

The method of assessment is a three-step journey:

A written assessment covering regulations, machine controls, and operational safety.

Candidates will demonstrate the safe operation of the tool, including pre-operational checks and performing tasks.

Candidates will showcase proper shutdown techniques to ensure safety and compliance.
