The NPORS N038 High Pressure Water Jetting qualification is designed to equip operators with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for the safe and efficient use of high-pressure water jetting equipment. This comprehensive course covers key areas such as understanding industry hazards, adhering to health and safety legislation, conducting pre-operational checks, and mastering equipment controls and functions. Delegates will also learn about environmental considerations, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and procedures for equipment transportation and storage. Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS operator card, valid for up to five years, demonstrating their competence and commitment to maintaining high safety standards in high-pressure water jetting operations.
Understand the high-pressure water jetting industry, associated hazards, and operator responsibilities under relevant health and safety legislation.
Gain familiarity with the manufacturer’s handbooks, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and permit requirements.
Identify and explain the functions of major machine components and key controls, including pumps, pressure gauges, hoses, and lances.
Conduct pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer and legislative requirements to ensure equipment safety and compliance.
Select and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable for high-pressure water jetting tasks.
Choose suitable equipment types relative to the specific work being undertaken.
Perform safety checks at the work area, set up and route equipment, and establish exclusion zones to maintain a secure working environment.
Establish effective communication methods with pump operators and safety personnel during operations.
Prepare and operate the machine safely and efficiently, adhering to best practices and safety protocols.
Carry out end-of-shift and shutdown procedures, including equipment storage, transportation, removal of exclusion zones, and completion of necessary permits and lock-down procedures.
The method of assessment is a three-step journey:
A written assessment covering regulations, machine controls, and operational safety.
Candidates will demonstrate the safe operation of the tool, including pre-operational checks and performing tasks.
Candidates will showcase proper shutdown techniques to ensure safety and compliance.
