The NPORS N103 Crawler Crane qualification is designed to equip operators with the essential skills and knowledge required for the safe and efficient operation of crawler cranes in construction and industrial environments. This comprehensive training covers key areas such as understanding industry hazards, adhering to health and safety legislation, conducting pre-operational checks, and performing lifting tasks effectively. Participants will gain proficiency in identifying and explaining the functions of major components and controls, as well as implementing proper shutdown procedures. Suitable for both novice and experienced operators, this qualification ensures compliance with industry standards and promotes a culture of safety.
Understand the construction industry, associated hazards, and the responsibilities of a crane/lift supervisor.
Identify and explain the functions of major components and controls of lifting equipment and accessories.
Interpret and extract information from relevant documentation, including lift plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
Demonstrate diverse communication methods used for lifting purposes, including manual and radio signals.
Conduct procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service and ensuring the security of various types of loads and lifting accessories.
Set up exclusion zones, identify overhead hazards, and implement emergency procedures.
Supervise the movement of loads using different methods of communication.
Understand environmental considerations and how external factors affect the planning of lifting operations.
Carry out all “out of service” and securing procedures.
The method of assessment is a three-step journey:
A written assessment covering regulations, machine controls, and operational safety.
Candidates will demonstrate the safe operation of the tool, including pre-operational checks and performing tasks.
Candidates will showcase proper shutdown techniques to ensure safety and compliance.
