The NPORS N240 Grader qualification is designed to provide operators with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for the safe and efficient operation of graders. This comprehensive course covers key areas such as understanding industry hazards, adhering to health and safety legislation, conducting pre-operational checks, and mastering machine controls and functions. Delegates will also learn about environmental considerations, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and procedures for machine transportation and storage. Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS operator card, valid for up to five years, demonstrating their competence and commitment to maintaining high safety standards in grader operations.
Understand the responsibilities and hazards associated with operating a grader on construction sites.
Identify and familiarise with key grader components, controls, and manufacturer’s guidelines.
Perform pre-operational checks to ensure machine safety and compliance with regulations.
Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for grader operations.
Operate the grader safely, including grading, spreading, and levelling materials effectively.
Follow safe loading, unloading, and transportation procedures for the grader and attachments.
Recognise underground and overhead services and apply safe digging practices.
Complete end-of-shift checks and maintain safe storage and reporting procedures.
The method of assessment is a three-step journey:
A written assessment covering regulations, machine controls, and operational safety.
Candidates will demonstrate the safe operation of the tool, including pre-operational checks and performing tasks.
Candidates will showcase proper shutdown techniques to ensure safety and compliance.
