The NPORS N608c All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Multi-Drive Skid Steer course is designed to provide operators with the essential skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively handle a range of multi-drive ATVs, including Argo Cat and Hagglund types. This comprehensive training encompasses both theoretical and practical elements, covering pre-operational checks, terrain navigation, trailer attachment, and safe loading procedures. Participants will also gain an understanding of relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Upon successful completion, candidates will be equipped to operate these versatile vehicles confidently across various sectors, including agriculture, construction, and environmental management.
Gain a foundational understanding of the all-terrain vehicle industry, associated hazards, and the legal and moral responsibilities of an operator.
Develop the ability to navigate and utilise the manufacturer’s handbook effectively, ensuring compliance with operational guidelines and safety standards.
Learn to locate, identify, and understand the functions of major machine components and controls, contributing to safe and efficient vehicle operation.
Conduct comprehensive pre-use and operational checks in accordance with manufacturer and legislative requirements, ensuring vehicle readiness and safety.
Identify appropriate PPE for ATV operations and understand maintenance practices to ensure ongoing protection.
Perform thorough safety checks of the work area, identifying potential hazards and implementing necessary control measures.
Prepare the all-terrain vehicle for use and operate it safely across various terrains, including gradients and restricted spaces.
Attach and set up trailer implements correctly, understanding their operation and the environmental considerations involved.
Load and unload the ATV from transport vehicles or trailers safely, adhering to best practices to prevent accidents and equipment damage.
The method of assessment is a three-step journey:
A written assessment covering regulations, machine controls, and operational safety.
Candidates will demonstrate the safe operation, including pre-operational checks and performing tasks.
Candidates will showcase proper shutdown and equipment storage techniques to ensure safety and compliance.
