Our CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SSSTS refresher course) is tailored for those who have previously completed the full two-day Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) within the last five years and are looking to renew their qualification.
The SSSTS refresher course is designed to bring participants up to date with the latest health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices in site supervision. It revisits key areas from the original training while incorporating new developments and changes in law that affect the day-to-day management of health and safety on construction sites.
By taking the SSSTS refresher course, supervisors reinforce their ability to monitor site activities, communicate effectively with teams, and promote a safe working environment. The course builds on prior learning, covering updated procedures, real-world case studies, and practical site management scenarios to ensure learners are confident in applying current regulations.

The SSSTS Refresher Course is a one-day training for those who completed the original SSSTS course within the last five years. It’s aimed at site supervisors who need to update their health and safety knowledge and maintain their CITB certification.
Your SSSTS certificate is valid for five years. To remain qualified, you must complete the SSSTS Refresher before it expires. This ensures you stay informed of current legislation, site safety practices, and supervisory responsibilities.
You’ll review key health and safety laws, CDM regulations, accident reporting, risk assessments, and safe systems of work. The course also explores supervisory leadership, site hazards, and updates to industry best practices.
Assessment is through a CITB-set exam with 25 questions, including multiple-choice and short written answers. To pass, you must achieve at least 80% and correctly answer all four safety-critical questions.
We offer this course at training centres in Manchester, Liverpool, and Stoke-on-Trent. On-site training options are also available for employers seeking group bookings.
The SSSTS refresher training takes place over one full day. It includes interactive discussions, up-to-date guidance on legislation, and practical examples tailored for supervisors in the construction sector.
If your original certificate has expired, you’ll need to retake the full two-day SSSTS course instead of the refresher. It’s important to keep your certification up to date to avoid gaps in qualification.
Yes, eligible employers can claim a £70 Tier 2 CITB grant. This helps offset training costs and supports ongoing workforce development in the construction industry.
