About Course

This CITB Leadership & Management course in Understanding Training and Coaching in Construction was developed by the construction specialists Acadame.

Delivered at our centre in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, virtually online or on-site; the purpose of this standard is to enable the delegate to develop knowledge and understanding of training and coaching as required by a practising or potential site supervisor.

  • understand how to provide training appropriate to the workplace
  • understand how to coach an individual in an organisation

 

Leadership and management are key skills for all construction sites and an area where the industry has identified a need for greater support and training.

How Completing This Course Will Help You:
Course Content

Assessment of this learning outcome must cover the delegates ability to:

  • explain how to identify the training needs for individuals on site
  • describe two or more training techniques appropriate to the workplace
  • explain how knowledge of different learning styles can assist when training individuals in the workplace, giving an example of a relevant learning styles model to aid the explanation
  • describe a method of evaluating the effectiveness of training
  • describe how to maintain training records in the workplace

Assessment of this learning outcome must cover the delegates ability to:

  • explain how to identify the coaching needs for individuals in the workplace
  • explain how to plan the coaching for an individual in the workplace
  • explain the importance of feedback in coaching
    describe a method of evaluating the effectiveness of coaching in the workplace
Methods of Assessment

The method of assessment is a one-step journey:

For the successful completion of training, delegates must complete an end of course assessment that measures all learning outcomes and meets the pass criteria for each.

The method of formal assessment considered appropriate for training delivered against this standard is by a paper of 9 questions based on one question per assessment criteria point within the learning outcomes with a bank of 2 sets of question papers. Delegates must achieve 75% correct answers to pass.

Supervisors and managers can be site based or office based, as long as they are managing a team or could do so in the future. Although, the training has been designed to support managers and supervisors’ development, any employee who could benefit from the training can take part.
