The Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations (Construction) – Planning Lifts is a competence-based qualification for construction professionals responsible for planning lifting operations involving suspended loads (often in roles such as Lift Planner / Appointed Person). It’s designed to recognise real workplace competence — showing you can plan lifts safely, select suitable methods and resources, and ensure lifting activities are properly controlled.
This qualification is achieved in a real workplace environment, meaning candidates are typically employed in a role that allows them to produce evidence of planning and controlling lifts. There are generally no formal entry requirements, but you must have the right level of responsibility and access to suitable lifting operations to build a valid portfolio.
As a work-based NVQ, assessment is completed through on-the-job evidence (rather than classroom exams), so you can progress while continuing your day-to-day role and responsibilities
