This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to prove they have the level and range of knowledge and skills required to carry out the installation of passive fire protection solutions in the Construction industry. This qualification is at Level 2, although some units may be at different levels and should be taken by those who are fully trained to deal with a range of tasks and situations.
The qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the units available and will allow employees from companies of all sizes and specialisms equal opportunity to complete, by having separate pathways for those whose work involves roof slates and/or tiles. There is also a Level 3 qualification in Roofing Occupations through GQA that requires candidates to carry out work on more complex structures.
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Waterproof membrane roofing systems(Construction) qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment. It is understood that not all indviduals employed in this industry carry out exactly the same tasks so the qualification has pathways to allow proof of knowledge and competence in any or all of 3 areas, reinforced bitumen membrane systems, single ply membrane systems and liquid membrane systems.
Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification. External quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by GQA Qualifications.
This qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the units available, there are 8 pathways to cover a range of tasks that come under the following broad headings; Modular Pavement Construction, Drainage Construction, Excavation and Reinstatement, Flexible pavement Construction, Structural Concreting, Non-structural Concreting, Laying Kerbs and Channels and General Building Operations. All work must be completed following Industry recognised Safe Working Practices.
Slinger Signaller Level 2 NVQ is a competency-based qualification. The NVQ is used to show that you are working at the correct level in your role as a slinger/signaller. By completing this qualification, you show that you are working at the required level, leading to employment or progression opportunities in your role. NOTE: You will need approx. 2 years of experience in the role related to this NVQ, and currently be working in a relevant role.

The NVQ Level 5 diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Planning Lifts is a work-based qualification that proves the applicant’s competence in planning and safely executing lifting activities using cranes or lifting equipment. It is possible to tailor the qualification to your area of expertise or your role by specialising in cranes, lifting equipment, or plant and machinery.
