Description
This qualification is aimed at those who have responsibility for carrying out work in construction related wood occupations in the workplace and onsite. Because of the wide range of wood occupations, it is not expected that all candidates will carry out the same activities; the qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the units available, there are 4 pathways to cover a range of
tasks that come under the following broad headings: site carpentry, shop fitting site work, shop fitting bench work and pre-assembled roof structure installation.
Qualification Breakdown
The qualification consists of 3 mandatory units with a credit value of 10 credits, candidates must also achieve the required credits from the selected pathway. The minimum credit value of the qualification is 36 credits, whichever pathway is selected.

- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace (3)
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace (5)
Pathway 1
Site carpentry optional units (minimum of 3 units required)
- Installing first fixing components in the workplace (16)
- Installing second fixing components in the workplace (23)
- Erecting structural carcassing components in the workplace (20)
- Maintaining non-structural carpentry work in the workplace (14)
- Installing fire resisting timber door assemblies and doorsets in the workplace (69)
- Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace (26)
Pathway 2
Shop fitting site work optional units (minimum of 3 units required)
- Installing shop fitting frames and finishings in the workplace (26)
- Installing shop fitting fitments in the workplace (13)
- Installing shopfronts and finishings in the workplace (15)
- Installing fire resisting timber door assemblies and door sets in the workplace (69)
- Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace (26)
Pathway 3
Shop fitting bench work -Pathway mandatory units
- Marking out from setting out details for routine shop fitting products in the workplace
- Manufacturing routine shop fitting products in the workplace
Shop fitting bench work -optional units (minimum of 1 unit required)
- Producing setting out details for routine shop fitting products in the workplace (12)
- Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace (19)
Pathway 4
Pre-assembled roof structure Installer-all must be achieved if this Pathway is selected
- Erecting timber roof structures in the workplace (23)
- Slinging and hand signalling the movement of suspended loads in the workplace (10)
- Erecting roof structure carcassing components in the workplace (26)
