The NPORS N025 Concrete Cutting Chainsaw course is designed to equip operators with the essential knowledge and practical skills for safe and efficient use of concrete cutting chainsaws in construction and industrial settings. Covering key areas such as industry hazards, operator responsibilities, equipment components, and personal protective equipment (PPE), the course ensures participants can conduct pre-operational checks, perform cutting tasks, and execute proper shutdown procedures. Emphasising compliance with health and safety regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and PUWER, successful candidates will be proficient in maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to best practices.
Introduction to the concrete cutting chainsaw, including relevant controls, required personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe mounting/dismounting practices.
Pre-start and running checks, explaining the major components of the chainsaw, their features, benefits, and associated risks.
General operator responsibilities, including referencing the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific chainsaw being used.
Operating procedures aligned with industry best practices and NPORS guidelines.
Safe parking and shutdown procedures.
Post-operational cleaning and dismantling of the machine.
End-of-shift procedures to ensure equipment longevity and safety.
The method of assessment is a three-step journey:
A written assessment covering regulations, machine controls, and operational safety.
Candidates will demonstrate the safe operation of the tool, including pre-operational checks and performing tasks.
Candidates will showcase proper shutdown techniques to ensure safety and compliance.
