The law behind articulated forklift truck operations training
Lift trucks are work equipment, so the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 apply: the truck must be suitable, maintained, inspected, and used only by people who have had adequate training. Where the truck lifts loads, the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 apply as well.
Awareness training is not operator certification. Operating a lift truck requires proper basic training, specific job training and familiarisation, assessed in person. This course supports that. It does not substitute for it.
