Our Derby centre is at 19 St Christopher’s Way, in the middle of Pride Park. If you work in Derby, Nottingham, Burton or anywhere along the A52 and the M1, it is usually the easiest of our four centres to get to, and there is a train station within walking distance.
Here is what runs there, how to find it and what to do if the date you need is not on the list.
Where it is and how to get there
Pride Park is Derby’s main business park, just east of the city centre and immediately off Pride Parkway. The building is one of a cluster of modern offices with parking, reception and meeting rooms.
- Address. 19 St Christopher’s Way, Pride Park, Derby DE24 8JY
- By car. Straight off the A52, and a short run from junction 25 of the M1. Parking on site
- By train. Derby station is a short walk across Pride Park
- Start time. Most courses start at 8.30am unless your joining instructions say otherwise
- Bring. Photo ID. CITB, IOSH and first aid all require us to check it before you sit
Lunch, refreshments and course materials are included. There is more detail, including a map, on the Acadame Derby page.
CITB Site Safety Plus at Derby
The site safety courses are the busiest thing we run at Pride Park, and they are the ones most people are sent on by an employer or a principal contractor.
- SMSTS, the five day site management course, and the two day SMSTS refresher
- SSSTS for supervisors, and the one day SSSTS refresher
- Health and Safety Awareness, the one day course behind the green Labourer card
- Temporary Works Co-ordinator
CITB grant funding is available to registered employers for most of these, and we will tell you what you can claim rather than leaving you to find out.
IOSH, first aid and fire
- IOSH Managing Safely, the standard three day course for anyone who supervises or manages people
- IOSH Leading Safely for directors and senior managers
- First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work
- Fire warden and fire marshal training
- Supervising First Aid for Mental Health
CITB HS&E tests and NVQs
If you need the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test before a CSCS card application, we book those for you at your nearest test centre rather than sending you off to sort it yourself.
Construction NVQs are different: there is no classroom at all. An assessor comes to the jobs you are already doing, wherever in the country that is, so where you live matters far less than what you do.
If the date you need is not there
Two options, and both are common.
- Another centre. The course and the certificate are identical at Stoke-on-Trent, Manchester and Liverpool. If the date matters more than the postcode, take the date
- Your site. For six or more people it is usually cheaper to have us come to you, and nobody loses half a day travelling. Most courses can be arranged within two to three weeks
You can see every live date across all four centres on the course finder, or call the team on 0330 124 2165 and tell us what you need.
Booking and grants
Book online, by phone or by email. We invoice employers, take card payment, and offer three interest free instalments through Klarna for individuals paying themselves.
If you are a CITB registered employer, short course grant is claimable on most Site Safety Plus courses. We tell you which ones qualify at the point of booking rather than after you have paid.
Where else we are
Derby is one of four Acadame centres. The others are Trent House in Stoke-on-Trent, which is our head office, Europa House in Bury for Greater Manchester, and Kingsway House in Widnes for Liverpool. Addresses and directions for all four are on the training centres page, and we deliver on client sites right across the UK.
Tell us what the job is
Say what the work involves and who is doing it, and we will say honestly which course or card it needs, including when the answer is that you do not need one.
Real people, quick answers. 0330 124 2165.
