Nebosh General

Studied for me Nebosh General in Feb 26 with Alan Starr. Very pleased with all the support from both Alan and Matt, very happy to have passed. I feel without the support this enabled me to get my Nebosh. The course was full of examples and scenarios, which gave a better insight of expectations and real life situations. Thanks so much Academe, I will be enrolling a few members of my management team to complete IOSH in the near future.

About the NPORS N401 Appointed Person BS7121

The NPORS N401 Appointed Person course is designed to equip supervisors and managers with the essential knowledge and skills required to plan and oversee lifting operations safely and in compliance with current legislation. Aligned with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998 and British Standard BS 7121, this comprehensive programme covers key responsibilities, including risk assessment, method statement preparation, and lift plan development. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of crane types, lifting accessories, and safety protocols, ensuring they can effectively manage lifting activities across various work environments. Successful completion leads to NPORS certification, valid for five years.

Course Content
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of an Appointed Person in lifting operations

  • Identify key lifting personnel and explain their duties and communication methods

  • Apply relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice, including LOLER and BS 7121

  • Select suitable cranes and lifting accessories based on load types and lifting requirements

  • Produce risk assessments, method statements, and detailed lift plans

Methods of Assessment

The method of assessment is a two-step journey:

Candidates must successfully complete a written or verbal knowledge assessment. This is designed to confirm understanding of key topics.

The trainer may also assess learners through ongoing observation and direct questioning during the course to ensure full comprehension and engagement.
